Taking action now
Our facilities
We provide an alternative source of essential materials for producing lithium-ion batteries.
Lithion Saint-Bruno and Hydrometallurgy recycling approach is divided into two main steps: black mass production and strategic material production. Each step has its own plant!
Lithion Saint-Bruno
Main product
Black mass
Capacity
20,000 tonnes of batteries per year
Start of operations
2024
Location
Saint-Bruno, QC, Canada
What we do here
Lithion Saint-Bruno is the first step towards our dream of circularity.
Located in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, near Montreal, Lithion Saint-Bruno is our first commercial critical minerals extraction plant. This is where we transform batteries into black mass, metal pellets and plastic flakes.
Its contribution to the circular economy of battery materials is significant. Once at full capacity, we’ll be able to shred 45,000 electric vehicle batteries per year.
Lithion Saint-Bruno also benefits our future partners. It's a place where they can learn about our black mass production processes, safety standards and best practices.

What we do here
When commissioned, Lithion Hydrometallurgy will be the culmination of our vision: to enable the world to be powered by the greenest batteries available.
We will start the construction of our own hydrometallurgy plant in 2024. This plant will allow us to deploy our patented hydrometallurgy technology to process black mass and produce battery-grade purity lithium carbonate, nickel sulphate and cobalt sulphate. All these products will be reintroduced into the battery value chain.
At full capacity, our hydrometallurgy plant will process 30,000 tonnes of black mass per year sustainably, safely and efficiently.
